We’re Connecticut’s Newest Community Companion Home Experts!

We are currently searching for Home Providers to help us share our passion for Shared Living (Community Companion Homes) with the community!

We are excited to open our doors and provide community companion home (Shared Living) services in Connecticut. We are experienced professionals at Shared Living (Community Companion Homes) and began providing oversight for our first Shared Living home, in New Hampshire, in 1997. Since then our coverage has grown to include four states and we currently oversee hundreds of Shared Living homes from fourteen offices.

We are passionate about Shared Living because our experience has shown us that people with a broad range of intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive in a natural home, which is what Shared Living strives to create. Each Shared Living plan is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of an individual, in a way that is just not possible in an institutional or group home setting.

Every potential Shared Living resident, along with their case manager and guardian or family members, participates in an extensive matching process that facilitates finding a home and family that is a “just right” fit. This process respects the personality, capabilities and hopes for the future of each individual. The resident has their own room, participates in family activities and benefits from the host family’s (Home Provider’s) connections to the community. The Living Innovations team provides a careful screening and selection process for each Home Provider and ongoing support for each Shared Living home.

Our Connecticut Services

Community Companion Homes (Shared Living)

Community Companion Homes are based on carefully matching a person in need of support with a host family in a natural home, as opposed to an institutional environment.

The Community Companion Homes (Shared Living) model is based on a person in need of support living with a host family in a natural home, as opposed to an institutional environment.
The person receiving support:

  • Is an active participant in the process of selecting the host family.
  • Benefits from having supports, meals and activities that are a good fit for them.
  • Has the experience of a family-like environment.
  • Receives the highest level of individualized care and community integration, compared to any other residential model.

With more than twenty years of experience helping hundreds of people thrive in Shared Living homes, Living Innovations has the knowledge and dedicated professional staff to bring about optimal results.
