Our History

Since 1996, Living Innovations has partnered with thousands of families in New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead good lives at home and in their communities with innovative programming and services.

That integration has come in many forms since Living Innovations was founded by Neal Ouellett who had a vision of providing highly personalized home and community-based services in his home state of New Hampshire. Neal devoted more than 40 years of his professional life to the field of human services. We pride ourselves on creating the right plan for each individual we serve.

As he prepared for retirement, Neal sought to align Living Innovations with a larger organization that had a similar vision of putting people first, while also providing support to enhance direct services. He also recognized the need for resources to manage growing compliance and funding complexities. He said Mosaic "checked all the boxes," and Living Innovations became a service of Mosaic on February 1, 2021, converting to a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization.

According to Mosaic CEO Linda Timmons, the two organizations have a similar vision for service, strong values and a common mission, so joining together brought new strength to the Mosaic network and new resources to Living Innovations. Mosaic offers a wide range of supports, including services mirroring those of Living Innovations.

For many individuals we serve, we’ve helped them find opportunities for Shared Living, which is based on carefully matching a person in need of support with a host family in a natural home as opposed to a shift-staffed or institutional environment. One of our core values is Putting People First. We believe everyone should have an equal opportunity to experience all that life has to offer. For others, we have reinforced and provided opportunities to help them participate in educational, social and employment opportunities. In our Community Connections  program, all activities are geared to meet the specific needs, desires and interests of the participants with the ultimate goal of enhancing their health, safety and independent living skills.

In ever-changing times, we remain resolute in the commitment to our mission: Living Innovations provides support to people of all ages and abilities to have a good life at home and in the community.

As we have grown, we have had the ability to offer additional services to meet the burgeoning needs of the individuals and families with whom we are privileged to work. The full list may be found here.
